The Heart of Wales Circular Day Ranger and Heart of Wales Circular Two-Day Ranger allows a circular journey from and back to any station located on the lines from Shrewsbury to Cardiff via Hereford and Newport; from Cardiff to Swansea; from Swansea to Llanelli; and from Llanelli to Shrewsbury via the Central Wales Line.

The journey can start and finish at any of the stations on the route and can be made in either direction but it must be circular in one direction.

Some Avanti West Coast station TVMs for example Crewe, now sell local rangers and rovers.

LNER TVMs at Doncaster, Edinburgh, London Kings Cross, Newcastle and York also sell them.

A number of PTE areas sell local rangers from TVMs in their area e.g. South Yorkshire, Strathclyde and West Midlands
